Mebuyan’s Colony

A monumental work approximately 7 meters high and 25 meters wide, “Mebuyan’s Colony” is a work that marries Leeroy New’s continuing fascination with Philippine mythology and science fiction through an installation of giant spheres on bamboo stilts. The installation also serves as a community harvesting center, wherein guests may pick from a variety of vegetables and produce.
New takes the opportunity to open up a space for viewers to engage in discussions on the role of art, serving as an invitation for us to take a more critical view of the world we live in.
